new jeans

Went to the store yesterday to spend a gift certificate I got as a late birthday present. I decided this was a great time to try on some jeans. I am happy to report I needed a smaller size! Very close to needing a smaller size yet. So I just bought one pair hoping that I will down another size sooner then later.

And now to introduce my new food scale. I picked it up tonight at Orange Tree Imports. Love the orange color! I have thought about buying one of these for awhile but never had. I stopped there to drop off a few things and decided to look around...and found this little gem. I weighted out my 1 serving tonight and felt like I ate plenty. We even had leftovers. Now I just have to get back into the journal!

I also update my weight for the month. Down to 276. Hoping for 273. But I did earn new jeans as my reward. I need them.

badger saturday.










We went to the Badgers vs Northwestern Game today. It may not of ended the way we wanted but it was sure fun to go.










We even ran into Tim, Greg and Tom...all former Bucky's. Tim was the wonderful Bucky at our wedding.










Katelyn slept though almost the entire first half....made the second half much easier to handle :)

ps. I even worked out in the hotel fitness room in the morning. Made me miss boot camp. I just can't walk/ run on a treadmill or elliptical machine and feel like I got a great workout in.

10 things

1. We met with the chef and restaurant owner for our holiday party today. We are having it at a new restaurant in Madison...Kickshaw. It means fancy food. The chef was so passionate about food and how he prepares it, it made me want to cook great food. I do not mind cooking but I kind of get stuck in a rut. Need to kick up a little bit....get outside of the box. I want to cook more with sweet potatoes and squash this week.

2. I love getting an extra 30% off at Kohl's. But I spend way to much.

3. Before pictures coming...hopefully....tomorrow. I need to find my cord to upload photos. They are not pretty. But I don't think they should be. Kind of the point of working out.

4. Water: I am craving water all the time now. I love it.

5. I am almost done with my holiday shopping. WOOT! Of course I will go out on black friday. Really all I have left is my uncle-in-law, brother-in-law. grandma, and a few things for Katelyn. I don't think I have ever been this organized to get this much done already. I really think it all connects back to starting a workout routine. I have more energy already.

6. Really want to make it to one more bootcamp a week. Wish the option that was closer to home was at 6:15....I have TOUGH time with the 5:30am class....just can not get up that early.

7. I need to stop eating fast food. I have cut way back. But even just once puts me behind in reaching my goal. I need to pack snacks for the car. That way when I am out and about on deliveries for work I can have something to take the hunger edge off.

8. I never watched Biggest Loser. I never wanted to watch it because I felt guilty because I was not doing anything about my weight. It is now fun to watch and see some of the same exercises that we do in bootcamp,

9. Last week I went to a training/ conference on Adobe software. I wish I knew more about design. But this class really helped answer questions and problems. Of course still a lot to learn but I gained a lot of neat information and a great resource for figuring out more.

10. Plan for the rest of the week. Scrapbook night on thursday. I love those night. Good times with good friends...and get some scrapbooking done. Also going to the Badger game this weekend in Northwestern.

wii workout






My wonderful husband bought me the EA Active for my birthday a month ago. I had not used it until tonight. Kind of thought it might be lame and not work very well. But to my surprise I worked up a nice little sweat. I would like to get a different band but other then that I give it a thumbs up. I started the 30 day challenge on it. We will see how that goes. I am currently doing 3 boot camps a week and just need a little something more. Hopefully this will help. I really want to stay on track for my monthly goals.

It seems like everyone on the blogs is joining weight watchers again. I wish I would of kept up with that better. I really enjoyed the meetings, the point system, and the recipes. Now granted I am still cooking most of the recipes since I printed off a ton. But I just can not spend the money on that AND boot camps. I am held more accountable to the boot camps. You miss a day there you better be ready to get some grief. Good grief though :)

first goal

I have set my WI goals for the first tuesday of each month. I had my first one this week and I am happy to report I made it! Down to 279.8. YAY!!

When I joined Weight Watchers I weighed 290.8. I did not keep up with WW very well. Meeting times just did not work for me. All of sudden saturdays would fill up and I would miss another meeting. I am proud of myself for not gaining a lot of weight while not going to meetings but now with boot camps this is going to change. I need to lose weight not maintain :)

I really need to take measurements and take photos to see my progress on this journey. I am so happy that I have started going to boot camp. I really enjoy going...never thought that I would enjoy working out.

Halloween

We did not make it around the neighborhood for treat n' treating. We went to grandma and grandpas house and aunt Amanda's apartment. I figured that was enough. It was so cold out, we got home late and I really did not want all that candy around. It was a win-win.

I did buy some candy for at the house. I actually bought too much. I need to bring some in the restaurant do I get rid of it.

Tomorrow is my first goal that I set for 279. Drinking a lot of water today, going to set up the Wii tonight to workout and I have bootcamp in the morning. Fingers are crossed for that first goal.

Sick Day

Little to no talking was done today. Yesterday at work I could barely talk. Every time I answered the phone I sounded worse. The strange part was that felt fine. I went home a little early to take a nap before friends came over. But when I woke up it all hit me. I felt horrible! I was in bed by 8pm. I even fell asleep before Grey's was on.

I could not breath this morning and missed boot camp. If I am feeling up to it I am going to try and make it to a different location on monday. I really hope I feel better this weekend. I have so much to do.

Tough Day

I got to BC about 10 minutes earlier to put on my shoes and stretch. OH. MY. It maybe is not the best idea because then I see the group before ours and how tired they look. But it can be good because I know when we get to that point...we are almost done :)

It was a tough day. At first working on the ball I thought this is easy. But then going to the floor for the next set...was tough. Then with the next time on the ball was crazy tough. I am sure my arms and obliques well be feeling it later. I know my legs still hurt from tuesdays.

I still need to work on my eating. I am so tempted to eat out each day. I need to get more snacks at work to have around. And healthy snacks at that.

Week 2 - Tuesday

Another great workout this morning. I finally met Dustin - owner of the bootcamps - this morning. He broke his elbow the weekend after I joined. So it great to met him. Very nice guy. His goal is to help 1,000,000 moms. I think that is great. His groups are filled with moms. Love it.

...also from MN, Vikings fan, and graduated with a cousin of mine. small world.

Today he asked me to start a food journal. I had a tough time doing this for WW. But I think I am in a better mind set now. Since I am on a computer so much I am going to start a post to track my food. I think that I can make that work.

weekend report

what a fun weekend.
fri and sat I attended a scrapbookng event. 18 hours. excellent.
I am almost done with with Katelyn's baby book. I have June and her birthday left.
We talked about getting together more for scrapbooking. I just do not get anything done unless I am with other people.
We have a date set for thursday...hope to finish another couple of pages.

Sunday. Green Bay. Packer Game. Fun.















Our neighbor received tickets from a co-worker. And was not able to go, so he asked us. We left late sat night and spent the night in OshKosh. We got to Lambeau about 10:30, with the game starting at noon. We ate at the tailgate that we signed up for. Not really worth the money but still a lot of fun and good food. We got into the stadium just in time to see the kick-off. We enjoyed the game from great seats. And we sat by nice people also. After the game we stopped by the Pro Shop and bought a few souvenirs. Then started our trek home. Picked up Katelyn from grandmas....and home we went. Even as a Viking fan...I had fun.

Week 1- Friday

Another bootcamp done. Ahhhhh. Hurts getting up at 5:45 to get to bootcamp on time. But I feel so good when I am done. The other women in the class are fabulous. So supportive....and hold me accountable. I missed thursday. I did not sleep well the night before because katelyn was sick and just plain overslept.

No more missing!

The only way this is going to work is if I am going to bootcamp.

Trish is one of the ladies in the class- she is my role model. She started going to bootcamp this summer and has lost 50lbs. I can't wait to be like her by the end of winter. Such a motivation. Today she offered me her clothes that do not fit her anymore. At first I was offended...but I got over that quick when I realized that this was as much for her as trying to be helpful to me. I mean how wonderful to get rid of all your clothes that do not fit anymore and give them to someone that can benefit from them.

I just have to keep in mind that someday I will be able to pass my clothes on to someone....someday soon I hope :)

Week 1 - Tuesday

I love boot camp. I have now paid for the boot camp and committed to 6 months of going to boot camp 3 times a week. There are more sessions that I can go to....we can get to that point later.

I need to do some sort of tracking done for my progress...yes there will be progress...with my boot camp activities. I have had 2 sessions before this but with missing 2 because of the flu in our house I decided that I need to start an official count. I plan on taking measurements every other week to see the progress.

Boot Camp

enough is enough.

I have joined a boot camp. I am not a gym person. I am not one that can work out at home. I have changed my diet some....still need some work. But it has changed. And now I AM A BOOT CAMP PERSON!!

I have looked at these camps before. They are not cheap to join. So that was always a factor and my mind was not in it.

First session was on friday. I woke a little later then I wanted to and I was thinking I was not going to go...but I had to. So proud that I made it. It went really good. It was tough but I need tough. And I felt it later. Oh my. I felt it all weekend.

Tuesday was the next session. Not so bad. :) Going again tomorrow!!

I need to remember

Today was weigh-in day. Blah. I have not been able to make it to my sat meeting for the last 2 weeks. This did not help me at all. I gained. I only gained .6lbs. But it sucks. I thought I had been doing an ok job.
I need to remember that just joined WW does not mean I will lose weight. I need to work for it. I need to change habits. I need to do things. I need to make better choices. I need to track my food. I find my self figuring out points for a meal or an item but not counting it with the other things I have been eating. I need to get it out of my head that just because I pay to be part of WW that does not automatically mean I will lose weight. I need to work for it…I deserve it!

But tonight I had to hit the grocery store and I am very happy to report that I did not stop and get any raspberry cobbler. Maybe I will stop when they have peach cobbler

3.79 miles

We bought our ‘new to us’ bikes a few weeks ago. We also needed helmets to go along with these lovely bikes. We finally made it to REI and got a great deal on GRIO helmets for all of us. But it was still a few days after that when I finally made it out on my first ride. Now I was not sure how long I would be able to go. It has been a very long time since I have gone on a bike ride. I figure it must have been about 5 years. Ouch. My sister and I headed out on our ride. I honestly was ready to turn around after leaving the development. But I could not do that with my sister with. I had to keep going… I figured we would maybe go a mile or 2. But we actually made it 3.79miles. I could not believe it. I was so excited. And we were only gone about a half hour. Thought I was going to die when we were about done but really I think I could have gone farther. Next time….

March for Babies.

This last weekend I helped out at the March of Dimes Walk America March of Babies. Not sure when the name changed….but really it makes more sense. I worked for the March of Dimes when I first moved to Madison. We had a fabulous office…it was really the best working environment ever. After we all left there was a new regime that took over. No fun to help…no fun to work with. Well I just found out that one of my old volunteers is now the director. Which is great because now we all want to come back to help.

I arrived at 6am on the Capital Square. I was SO excited…I was going to bring my bike along and go for a ride after I was done helping. But, go figure, I could not get my tire off at 530am and I was too tired to deal with it. That ride will have to happen another time.

The walk went great. It was very nicely organized and had great weather. It was so heartwarming to hear the stories of the babies born too soon and that have survived. It was also difficult to hear the stories of the babies that did not make it.

My husband and I are trying to get pregnant right now. It is nice to know there are groups like the March of Dimes out there to make sure that every baby is born healthy. I am just trying to get myself a little healthier before we get pregnant.

Doctor visit

Nothing like a trip to the lady doc to bring things in reality. It has been too long since my last visit and I finally made an appointment and made it there. The appointment went ok. I was happy to report to her that I have joined Weight Watchers. BUT….It was scary to hear her tell me that if my BMI was 1 point higher I would be a candidate for Bypass Surgery. She recommended that I call the Weight Management people that they have on staff. Figure for free...how bad could it be. Any tips they have could be helpful. I have called and left a message…report later what they have to say.

A gain of 3.8lbs...ouch

I gained this week. I am ok with it and kind of excepted it.

Last week, after I had my tooth pulled I did not eat much because I did not feel well. Then by tuesday, when I started feeling better, I was hungry all the time. I tried to make smart choices but I know not tracking did not help.

This weeks topic at the meeting happened to be about tracking. Very helpful and very motivating. Yet today....I am not doing so hot so far. The thing I did do today is go through points for fast food and drinks that I order. this will help when I need to know I also started planning our menu for the week. I love WW recipes. If I don't plan ahead for them we end up eating out.

I will publish my plan for the week later.

It is horrible
Once I starting thinking about going to get something - there is no getting it out of my mind
I have now packed a few of the WW bars in my car (this may not be a good idea in the summer)

This fast food places are going to kill me.
I should really watch "Fast Food" movie again.
Maybe that will get me thinking twice about ordering anything.

I think I almost needed an intervention a few month ago
I would go to McDonalds for lunch and then feel guilty that I ordered a meal from there
So...what would I do... I would eat something with my husband at work so he would not know that I went to McDonalds.
Unbelievable!!!

It was shortly thereafter that I kicked myself in the butt and got my act together and joined WW!

3rd Time is a Charm

I was cleaning out our extra bedroom before my sister moved in and came across my old WW WI cards
I had no idea that I had even held on to them.
It was kind of neat and sad to look at them
I really wish I would of stuck with it before when I had joined
But I guess there is a time and a place for everything
And that was not the right time for me

First go around:
I had joined the end of Feb 05 and WI at 238.8...oh how I wish I could be there right now
I stuck with it a total of 7 weeks and had lost a total of 6.6
Not sure why I stopped going
I know I was busy with weddings and was in the process of planning my own wedding
Guessing I was just not taking time for myself

Second Time:
This was a few months after our wedding but RIGHT before I was preg-o
Starting weight at this point was 246...oh how I wish I could be there right now
I was only with it a total of 5 weeks and lost a total of 4.8lbs
The week I stopped going was the weekend I found out that I was preg.
I really wish I would of stuck with it

Third Time:
Joining weight is 290.8...hurts to even type it
Once again we are trying to get preg.
I have an appointment set up with my doc next week
I am going to talk to her about sticking with WW while preg.
I feel like it is AA for eating.
Really do not want the WI's at that point but I would like to join the meetings

Guess I will wait to see what the Doc says and then talk to WW people....I guess first I have to get preg.

I really want this time to work!

Just keep swimming

For some extra cash I work at a restaurant part-time. It can be great exercise if I am running about but most of the time I am just putting out fires around the place. Today we had a wine tasting for work. The guy that came in to tell us about different wines also gave some great selling tips. Always nice to hear. I did not drink much of the wine. It was about 2 sips of 8 different wines.

After I got home my sister and I headed off to Wal-mart to pick up a pair of swim goggles for me since we were headed to the pool! So excited. Got our stuff and were on our way to the pool. Not sure were it was but we found it, got ready, and headed into the pool. Next time it will just be easier! We swam for about 30 minutes....maybe we did not swim the entire time. But it was great to be back in the pool. I did not remember how exhausting swimming was. Uff-da! But next time will just be easier.

Headed home for a bit...watched Rock of Love Reunion (nothing special)...and then we ran to Dick Sporting Goods. I had to get better goggles.

WI - week 3

Not sure how I should take this weeks weigh-in. I did lose this week. But I did not have the best eating habits. I had some dental work done on thursday. So I did not eat much on thursday and friday. With that I did not have anything to track. I am going to try my best to keep it off for the next WI.

Today Katelyn and I went to the sping game for UW. It was way to crowded. I could not take it. We walked around for a bit...figured it was a good place to get some walking in. Tomorrow I plan on going swimming at the pool here in town. Really want to keep these 7lbs off!

Tracking

I really need to find a system that works for me to track what I am eating. I am thinking just a blog of each day of just food. Then I can just edit it as the day goes on and publish it at night. For some reason I do not remember to pull out my little journal to track my food.

family

It has been so nice have my sister move in with us
She is about 7 years younger than me
Being older now I can appreciate having her around
One bonus is she is a supporter of the WW program.
She really wants to learn more about the program but can not afford to join right now
But she understands that the food that is in the house needs to be WW friendly
She was in the mood last night to make brownies....and she made the WW brownies
And they actually were not that bad. And they were 3 points each.
Just enough for a little chocolate fix.
It is nice having family near me.

Brunch

I did it. I went to a brunch and did not leave feeling like a stuffed pig.

I must admit that I am very proud of myself. I did make 2 trips but I also put food for DD on my plate. Then when I would get back to the table I would put her food on her plate and eat what was left....and then still leave some on my plate.

I still have yet to go on a real bike ride. I tried to go last night but Mark's bike had a squeak that was driving me crazy. I had to come back after 5 minutes. I need to get reflectors for my bike and a helmet. My goal for this week is to workout 3 times. Reminder...It is go time!

thank goodness

today was the weigh in day
and I LOST!!
I was super nervous for this first one
I hope this one really sets the tone for future meetings
I know at some point I will just maintain and
some I will gain
But I am very very thankful that I did go down 1.4 lbs.

Goals for next week:
work out 3 times this week
to eat breakfast each morning

New Bike

I am so very excited...I just bought a new bike today. Well not a new new bike but new to me. I found it on Craigslist and it was actually a package deal with a guys bike.

It is an Electra Townie bike. Kind of a new school cruiser look. Very fun and easy to ride. And my husband got a bike out of the deal.

They were super nice people that even included side bags for groceries....not that I see me biking to the store yet to get my groceries. But it is some thing to work towards.

oh...and they tossed in a bike pump! so nice

Tonight we are heading to DH uncles house for dinner. It will be a challenge not to have pressure for 2nds. My plan is to take small portions to start with. Then when 2nds go around I can take some with out going crazy.

WI- is tomorrow morning...fingers are crossed.

It's go time

Welcome to my new fancy weight loss blog.

I have just joined weight watchers. My first meeting was just last saturday. I really hope I have done well this first week.

It did not help that we had a meeting this morning...and what did my MIL decide to bring...brownies! What kind of thing is that for a 10am meeting. I did well until the guy next to me had one. So I had a very small corner of one. If this was last week thursday I would of had 4 before the meeting even would of started so I guess I am doing ok in my mind.
